For Comprehensive Pump Control, Compatibility is Key
With FarmHQ pump control units now operating on hundreds of farms across nearly every US state and Canadian province, we are quickly becoming the leading solution for wireless irrigation pump control and automation. While our advanced monitoring and cutting-edge automation features attract growers, it’s our emphasis on broad compatibility and ease of installation that fulfills the promises of the platform.
Our team has successfully installed FarmHQ on nearly every type of engine controller, custom electrical panel, and VFD brand imaginable, building an extensive library of documentation and expertise on various irrigation equipment. We are now sharing this knowledge through a series of technical blog posts focused on integrating remote control with the controllers and drives we encounter most frequently. These integrations typically fall into two main categories:
Engine Controllers:
Commonly used for mobile pump units and stationary pumping sites without dedicated three-phase electrical power. With FarmHQ, these units can be started and stopped remotely or on a schedule, and accept start/stop commands from other FarmHQ devices. Common engine controllers include:
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs):
Used for applications requiring variable pumping speeds and improved energy efficiency. FarmHQ enhances these drives with features like remote pressure and flow rate setpoints, scheduling, integration with other irrigation equipment, and real-time remote control. Frequently used VFDs include:
- Danfoss VLT Aqua Drive
- Yaskawa P1000 (guide coming soon)
- Fuji Electric Frenic (guide coming soon)
- ABB ACQ580 (guide coming soon)
These guides are part of a comprehensive knowledge base we are building to help growers connect their irrigation equipment, regardless of make, model, or age. If you’re interested in learning how to integrate FarmHQ with a specific piece of equipment, please reach out.
